My parents need their gas furnace and A/C unit (plus coil) replaced as it's aged out at 22 yrs old and has been recommended to be replaced due to potential CO2 leaks. It's truly a 1:1 type of replacement. Furnace is 80,000 BTU unit in garage, easy access. A/C unit is 3 ton on pad in back yard, easy access. Will require some standard replacement of 6 feet or so of duct work from furnace into garage ceiling, etc.. Nothing crazy.
My parents are in their 80's, father is a veteran. They are on a fixed income and need to have this done cost effectively. They can buy the major equipment from Home Depot and get military discount plus free 24 month financing.
I'm looking for a licensed HVAC technician that can do a quality install, to code, at a reasonable price. The quotes we are getting are simply not reasonable, period. You must come with references, a current business license, and proof of business registration and all those good things. If you insist on purchasing the equipment yourself - that's fine, but will want an quote that outlines fees for equipment/parts, and fees for labor. Again, my father can get military discount and no-cost financing from home depot, hence the desire to go that route if it makes sense all around.
