Required: Type at least 65 wpm and 9000 key strokes per hour with high accuracy. This is a non-exempt position paying between $33,085.52 per year to start. Work schedule is 8am - 5pm Monday through Friday. MPD currently pays 100% of the monthly premium for medical, dental and vision for employee-only coverage.
In-House Duties include:
-Accurately create and update electronic records in the in-house database, including client name, court number, attorney/team assignments, future event dates and other critical information. This is done for all groups for the criminal side of MPD.
-Respond quickly to email requests for information, data updates or other requests from staff.
-Reconcile daily case input, run reports, and create and distribute physical files in a timely manner.
-Close cases after disposition, accurately recording outcome and details.
-Assist with state reporting requirements, including correcting cases to ensure accurate capture of credits.
In and After Court Duties
-Prepare docket to be used in court by checking in both in-house database as well as the state database for conflict and clients that already belong to other firms.
-Arrive at court on time, completely prepared.. Continue preparation for arraignments once you arrive at court.
-Assist attorneys and court staff by assigning each case quickly and accurately and providing any other available details as needed.
-Assist family members of clients by providing them with attorney name and next court date and answering any questions you can.
-Record new appointments on the appropriate contractor and in-house grids.
-Annotate docket with attorney names, court dates, release status, and other details as needed.
-Prepare and organize paperwork so it is ready for scanning on your return to the office.
-Keep courtroom supplies (including business cards) stocked and organized.
-Scan paperwork and distribute to legal assistants.
