Your contribution includes
Drafting appropriate forms and letters for visa applications and petitions, applications for permanent residence, appearances before the USCIS, labor certification applications, and other immigrant and non-immigrant related filings
Gathering appropriate evidence to support the proper filing
Maintaining computer databases for case management of immigration filings
Assembling application and petition packages and files with USCIS or other appropriate agency
Monitoring immigration related publications and web sites for news and trends and communicates findings to the practice group keeping important items in electronic files
Conducting research via internet and hard copy sources of information, keeping important items in electronic files
Preparing letters and e-Blasts to inform clients of relevant events in immigration law
Maintaining a library of immigration publications and text books
Providing general assistance to department attorney
Accurately and completely recording billable time spent and tasks performed in accordance with firm policy and client-imposed billing protocols; enter and release time promptly in compliance with the firm's announced deadlines
Join us if you have
3+ years' experience supporting immigration attorneys as a paralegal, required
College degree or completion of a paralegal program, strongly preferred
Knowledge of the basic business non-immigrant visas (H-1B, L-1A, L-1B, E-1, E-2, TN, B-1) as well as the basic employment based immigrant visa process (ETA9089, I-140, I-485)
Knowledge of the following is also desired: O1, EB-1, EB-5 visa process, the DOL online application systems (PERM and iCert) and Consular processing and DS-160 forms
Ability to read and write English; fluency in Chinese highly desired
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft business applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is essential
Familiarity with Immigration INSZoom or other immigration tracking software is a plus
Highly developed skills in time and task management with the ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to urgent requests with minimal supervision
Detail oriented and works with an extremely high degree of accuracy
Post-college level writing and oral communication skills
Ability to communicate effectively with firm members, clients, and other business contacts
Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills, as well as the ability to handle stressful situations in a calm, composed manner
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, service environment
Flexibility to work overtime if necessary
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with lawyers, clients and office personnel
