I'm excited to be teaching drum lessons at Portland's own Rhythm Traders Drum Shop as well as online via Skype. If you're interested message me and I will get back to you ASAP with scheduling details and rates.
Here's a little bit about me:
I'am the drummer and a key songwriter for the internationally touring progressive hardcore band, Misery Signals. I have been touring internationally with Misery Signals since the age of 19 , and have released three full length albums under Ferret Records to date and one independently through Indie GoGo. At the beginning of 2018 I started drum teching for Fall Out Boy.
I specialize in hand technique using the Moeller system, poly rhythmic groove construction and timing as well as double bass pedal technique and odd time feel. I also believe it is important to use the drums as an integral part of the melody within Misery Signals multi-meter and multi-dimensional songs.
I have been involved in music my whole life. Coming from a musical family I started studying percussion at age 7 at the Jenks Music Studio with Yamaha Master Clinician Vicki Jenks. Throughout my public school carrier I've performed in the highest-level ensembles and was a key player in the high school percussion ensemble. At the end of my high school career, I was nominated by my band director to the Wisconsin Ambassadors of Music representing the finest players in the state. I toured Europe with that ensemble in the summer of 2002. In addition to my school ensembles, I have also performed with bands including Emarosa, Unearth, 7 Angles 7 Plagues, Lowtalker, and The Company We Keep. As well as studying with Vicki Jenks early in my beginning years, I have also studied with UW of Madison PhD percussionist, Jamie Ryan, Oregon Wisconsin Highschool Drum Corps instructor, David Skogan and Chicago jazz drummer, Jeff Stitely.
I look forward to hearing from you!!
