Epiphone Triumph #13215, early 1938. 41, 1938 Triumphs are known to exist.
Guitar came to me from Chicago with advanced binding rot and has been professionally rebound (body and neck). The headstock binding is original. 2 top and 1 back cracks were addressed during the binding work and the neck was reset and re-fretted. Bridge height is now 7/8", action is low and voice open. Instrument has been my daily driver for a number of years and is now ready for its next chapter in life. I am listing as I have moved into playing other Epiphones and this deserves more attention. Nut width 1.75", 14th Fret Width 2.1875". Original Bridge with serial number stamp; Original tailpiece, professionally braised crack. The finish on this guitar has long been a mystery. The 1939 Catalog says, "now available in cherry red finish" but no known original examples have ever been documented. This example is heavily checked, very old nitrocellulose lacquer of unknown origin.
Lastly. this Triumph came to me from the collection of Gregory Ceurvorst (John Bishop) of Chicago. There is a legend that he ran away from home at 15 to play the blues in Kansas City. I have no idea when this guitar joined his journey.
