The pickups are super articulate, broad frequency, high output, noiseless passive pickups.
Also called a "single turn" pickup, as it uses no copper windings and instead uses a solid aluminum exoskeleton connected to two ceramic magnets, with the signal then passing through a built in, step-up transformer.
They are incredible for playing with time-based and modulation effects because of how much clarity and information they give from the strings.
They can also handle brutal, crushing distortion without any noise, way beyond what traditional single coils can handle. Would be a killer set for shoegaze, or other styles that use heavy amounts of effects and high gain.
It's wired into an ACME ToneShaper TM2 circuit board, which allows you to change between volume/tone control variations, choosing which pickups are activated at each switch position, ability to switch between series or parallel wiring, and assigning various capacitor values (or assigning no capacitor) to any of the pickups, all by simply flipping the dip switches located on the circuit board (rather than having to unsolder/resolder connections for each change).
