Powell's Books, international tourist destination and world renowned independent bookstore, is looking for a Gifts Purchasing Manager to lead the Gifts Department for our company!
This position is responsible for supervising the centralized gifts purchasing process, troubleshooting problems, and managing the order placement calendar for the company. The Gift Purchasing Manager also participates in hiring, training, performance management of gift buyers and coordinates feedback with store managers. Gifts (non-book items ranging from socks to board games to candles to journals to dog toys to chocolates) make up a significant and growing part of our business and we’ve build a reputation for a thoughtful, unique product mix.
The successful candidate for this position will have experience with:
*Negotiating volume discounts and terms of payment with vendors
*In-depth knowledge of gift markets and supply sources (we pride ourselves on our array of gifts that aren’t carried everywhere else)
*Inventory management software and ordering programs
*Team leadership, management, and consensus-building
*Staying ahead of and on top of market trends!
*Analyzing inventory and sales performance
*And most importantly, purchasing experience
The wage range for this position starts at $27.00/hour ($56,160 annually). The schedule for this position is Monday – Friday, business hours (40 hours per week).
Our Gift Team is located at our facility at 2720 NW 29th Ave (NW Portland near Montgomery Park). Our building is accessible by Tri-met Line 15 and we have a parking lot as well.
