I have to begrudgingly thin my herd. I still play and collect really high end wood tennis rackets (it's true). But alas, these times are not conducive for me to do this now. These are both handmade pieces of true functional art that will play true and styly!
Both are wood-wood composite with either graphite-wood or wood-fiberglass reinforcing for stiffness and longevity. Both should be strung at 45-48 lbs. by someone who knows what they're doing. Stay on the 45lb side.
Standard - Old School original game size tennis racket heads:
1. Dunlop Maxply Fort Graphite with matching head cover. Grip size 4 and 1/2. Standard Head size. Dunlop has always been my favorite brand of wood racket. I have several Maxply Forts including one of these strung. A service and backhand demon. A really net skimmer. Full+ length leather grip/handle and as stated, the cellophane has never come off.
$50
2. MacGregor Service Ace - Wood Fiber Composite - 4 and 5/8 grip size. Standard Head size for precision players. Cellophane cover has never been off the leather grip. This is a thing to behold.
