We are looking for after school care for the 2018 - 2019 school year for our 3rd (girl) and 7th (boy) grader.

3 - 6pm Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri (Fridays are negotiable)
1:30 - 6pm Wednesday (Beaverton School District early release)

$15/hour (some flexibility for the right person)

*Pick up 3rd grader from school at 3pm (1:30 on Wednesday)
*Meet 7th grader at home from bus
*Ensure healthy snacks/eating
*Keep kids on task with homework and support/guide in school projects (particularly applies to 7th grader)
*Engage kids in non-electronic activities inside and outside (when weather is nice)
*Ensure they are being responsible and safe when playing outside or down the street with friends, for example

Person must:
*Have experience caring for elementary and middle school age kids
*Have own car with clean driving record
*Live close enough to SW Portland that we can reasonably expect that you would reliably be to school pick up on time each day (we are not comfortable with Vancouver, for instance)
*Reasonably be able to commit to the full school year
*Be able and willing to help with homework, including Algebra and Geometry level math
*Be willing to take the kids to activities/appointments
*Be engaging and fun with kids, but also value enforcing rules and kindness
*Be able to be firm when needed and guide through sibling conflicts
*Be good with guiding kids entering adolescence
*Be able to stay past 6pm on occasion
*Be okay with cats (we have one elderly cat)
*Help kids clean up after themselves, and be tidy yourself

A bonus:
*Available as an evening/weekend/overnight sitter
*Enjoy being active, particularly playing (or teaching!) sports
*Interested in helping prepare light meals for kids and maybe some dinner prep

If this sounds like you, please reply with a little about yourself and why you are qualified for this particular position. Please, no template responses that include background information on experience in caring for infants/toddlers/preschoolers, as this is about providing care and guidance to kids who are becoming self sufficient. We'll likely reply with a few questions if your thoughtful response looks like it may be a match with our needs. Thank you!
