With over 30 years of experience teaching mathematics, I’ve helped students at every level build confidence and mastery. I taught high school math for 16 years and later taught college courses at Portland Community College and the University of Portland, including algebra, geometry, statistics, precalculus, calculus, and discrete math. My approach is clear, patient, and encouraging—I focus on helping students truly understand concepts rather than memorizing steps, so they can apply their learning with confidence in class and on exams.
I hold a Master’s in Measurement, Evaluation, Statistics, and Assessment (MESA) from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Bachelor’s in Mathematics from UC Riverside. Beyond teaching, I’ve developed math curriculum and assessments for leading education organizations such as Stride, Western Governors University, Renaissance Learning, and NWEA. This combination of teaching and professional assessment work allows me to identify learning gaps quickly and tailor instruction to each student’s needs—making math not only understandable, but enjoyable.
