About Fairbanks, Alaska.
Fairbanks is located deep in the interior of Alaska. We are home to just over 100,000 people throughout the Fairbanks North Star borough, making this region the second-largest population center in Alaska. The city features a University, an Army and Air Force Base and an International Airport with direct flights to the lower 48. Our city center and surrounding areas have good shopping, nice restaurants and other amenities found in larger cities but in a small-town package. If you are into the outdoors, Fairbanks is a paradise. A quick 30 min drive in any direction from town puts you in the real Alaska outdoors with literally thousands of miles of rivers, trails, mountains and forest ready for exploring, hiking, hunting, fishing, skiing, snow machine riding etc. Unlike the lower 48, most of our massive states land is open to the public to enjoy.
