This is a temporary enclosure that works for a smaller tegu but is not a full long-term habitat.
⚠️ Important Facts About Tegus (Please Read Before Inquiring)
• Tegus reach 3–4 feet long and require a very large enclosure
• ❗️They are extremely strong, capable of pushing open weak enclosures, breaking cheap latches, and rearranging cage furniture.
• Without consistent handling, they can become defensive and difficult to manage.
• ❗️They have powerful jaws and can deliver serious bites if mishandled or stressed.
• Need high heat and UVB, which means specialized lighting, and thermostats.
• Their diet is complex — not just “bugs and veggies.” They need a rotation of whole prey, eggs, lean meats, fruits, and supplements.
• They are VERY messy animals, require regular deep cleaning.
• Vet care can be expensive, and not all vets are experienced with large lizards.
• ❗️They live 15–20 years, so this is a long‑term commitment.
